Post No. 65 (Christopher Hitchens)
Christopher Hitchens has, sadly, passed away on the 15th December 2011. He will be probably best remembered for his vociferous “antitheism” – a term he coined to mean the relief in the non-existence of evidence to support the possible existence of a supreme being.
Christopher, ironically, means “bearer of Christ”. Hitchens may have helped reawaken lukewarm Christians to God; he may even have kindled a flicker of interest in non-believers as to who this God may be. Personally, I have found some of his “assertions” intriguing and I have had to delve deeper into the rationale buttressing my beliefs. For that I am grateful.
Bottom line is that he may have lived up to his name more than he would have wished.
Recquiescat in Pace, Christopher Hitchens.
